Translating 18th-century Mexican sci-fi!

The first science fiction story written in the Americas… and it had never been translated. Too good to be true? That’s what I felt when I came across this text from the 1770s while working on a book by a Mexican art collective. I offered it to Eleven Eleven journal for publication in 2015, and it was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Turn to the last page for some context on the author and the origin of the story.
